According to coloradoan, the closing of two manufactured homes slated for development in Fort Collins, Colo. that displaced nearly 50 low-income struggling families, and closed some of the most affordable housing in the area, will be discussed by the city as a means to plan for the future. The city government did collaborate with other agencies in relocating some of the residents, although some homeowners just walked away because their homes were too old to move. Since the city considers MHCs as part of its affordable housing inventory, it wants to clarify its role and responsibilities in terms of closure notice requirements and relocation expenses for residents, and is interested in preserving exiting MHCs. Recently, the 32 families living in the Bender Mobile Home Park had to move because the community was closed, and the city allotted $2,000 per home for moving expenses. MHProNews has learned the city has tabulated there are 4,000 manufactured homes in the city and county combined.
